Walking Free
Jn 5:1-15
This morning I was reading John chapter five as part of my regular devotions and I came across the story of the man healed by the pool of Bethesda. Jesus noted that he had been there in that condition for a long time. I believe that the most difficult situations to believe for are challenges we have been facing for a long time. Perhaps it is a health issue or an ingrained pattern in our thinking, a well established but destructive habit or attitude, a relationship impasse or a longstanding employment / career challenge.
Jesus came to this man and asked him about his expectation and desire. His desire for healing had been replaced with reasons for ‘why not’ Vs 7. What a trap for each of us to replace faith and expectation with reasons why nothing can change. The tyranny of the present can so easily rob us of our vision for the future. Heb 11:1 reminds us that faith is the evidence of what we cannot see in the present, it is the substance of our hopes.
The word of Jesus reawakened hope in this man to such a degree that he stepped out and stepped into healing. Today lets allow God’s word and promise to reawaken hope that motivates us to step into His miraculous purpose, lay hold of his power and walk free.
Prayer: God today I present my situation again to you, I choose to reject thinking and habits that lock out your power and choose to walk free. Thank you for your miraculous power at work in my situation today.
Amen
